A whole-person approach to pain

Pain can affect much more than one part of the body. It may disturb your sleep, restrict your movement, drain your energy or make everyday activities more difficult. At MasterChi, we take time to understand both the painful area and the wider patterns that may be contributing to your discomfort.

Your treatment begins with an individual consultation and may include acupuncture, cupping, therapeutic bodywork and practical lifestyle guidance, depending on what is appropriate for you.

How Acupuncture May Help

Acupuncture can help with different types of muscular pain, including lower and upper back pain, shoulder pain and neck pain. Our treatments draw from Traditional Chinese Medicine and the Balance Method. This method often uses carefully selected points away from the painful area to create change elsewhere in the body.

Sometimes, after only one or two needles, a client notices an immediate change in pain or movement and asks, “What did you do?” Others respond more gradually. We assess your response during each visit and adjust the treatment accordingly.

When Therapeutic Bodywork May Help

Pain is often accompanied by tight muscles, restricted movement or tension that has built up over time. Therapeutic bodywork and Tui Na use hands-on techniques to work directly with these areas and help the body move more freely.

Bodywork may be used as a treatment on its own or alongside acupuncture, depending on your needs and preferences.
